1400 Years of Happiness

I remember the only time when I was scolded by a teacher. I could not help but to laugh at a text message that I received.

When the punishment was over, I had to break the news to the whole class. It was funny actually. That day was the marriage anniversary of my parents. Somehow, my dad pushed the wish message to my number instead of my mom’s. It created great amusement among everyone in the class.

I can still recall the day. It was the first day of ‘Boishakh’- 14th of April. That is why, the first day of Bangla year has always been a special one for our family. It is kind of seeing my parents happy like ever and on the other hand sometimes we needed to deliver their notes at the time of their difference of opinion.

Love is not confined to the bubble of elders only. Someone might wait for me today, with a flower stick. It has to be at least for an hour for sure! If you are fighting for equal rights, it is quite obvious that one can easily wait for hours with a cup of tea or a flower stick, right? You can’t blame me actually (I have waited for exact 21 hours 25 minutes after my engagement. In return, if you can’t stand beside my bed for some time after marriage, how does that match?)

Still, ‘Pohela Boishakh’ is something really special for all of us. I believe the sprinkle of happiness is much more euphoric than Eid or any other carnivals we enjoy.

Why not? The suffocating heat of April is too much to take. This heat is not all about the weather. The heat gains it wings in our markets, exams and for some of us in the field of jobs as well. Some of us might choke to maintain the pressure of studies or might gape for some breather from their pitiless bosses.

Some of us might lie back in this roasting heat. Then again heat in the grocery shop is something not to enjoy much. Less in pocket-low in spirit, hectic schedule and upbeat socialization pulls you back and you start to say, ‘Forgive me God, enough of all these. Need your blessings badly’. Just that moment ‘Pohela Boishakh’ showers in the calmness over us. This festivity brings back the rhythm in our chores.

Why not to have a superb 14th of April? Cook something special and delicious. Wear something that suits you the best. Give an opportunity to someone whom you have never given any chance to speak with an open heart. Give thanks to the person who has been always there for you. At least it will give him a moment of gladness.

Look at that same old road you travel every day. For a moment you will find wonderful colors of life instead of the regular dreary traffic. You will start to feel, life is not all that bad either. Hopefully, it will enhance your senses to dream big.

Wish you the best of goodness to you and your family. Whatever moments you have passed it was yesterday; today is a gift. So try to enjoy it with the sense of thankfulness. Yes, one more beautiful occasion is here for you. We wish you a happy 1419.
