Accepting dowry is a heinous crime. I won't take dowry. I will discourage others from giving or accepting dowry.

Student Diversity

Shishukanon is unique amongst the schools in Bangladesh in the racial and religious diversity of its students.  Almost all the indigenous groups in Bangladesh are currently studying in the school side by side with Bengalees. Children from 13 of the 15 indigenous communities in Bandarban are represented in the student body. These are Marma, Mro or Morong, Tinchonga, Bom, Khyang, Tripura, Lusai, Khumi, Chak, Chakma, Rakhayn and Pangkhoya. Also among the students are Garos from the Mymensingh region and Santals from the Rajshahi region.

Although in the beginning only children from the surrounding communities enrolled in the school, more recently children from remote areas of  Bandarban such as Ruma, Thanchi, Royanchari, and Nykhongchari ; and even Rangamati and Kharachori districts  have been enrolling as well. We are taking steps to ensure that gradually, children from all indigenous communities have the opportunity to develop themselves through Shishukanon.

The religions of the children range from Islam, Hinduism, and Buddism to Krama (an indigenous faith), Christianity (Catholic and Baptist) and nature worship.
