When I fall asleep my parents scold me. Am I really being lazy?

Is sleeping idleness? I am busy with college, private tuition etc from 6 am to 4/5pm everyday. I feel sleepy when I come back home, but I don't sleep until I finish my studies. When I fall asleep my parents scold me. Am I really being lazy?

That depends on how long you are sleeping. If someone meditates for an hour per day, he shouldn't need more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep. Sleeping more than that is being lazy.

How can I overcome this?

I am really lazy. I can't do anything properly. How can I overcome this?

You have to arrange some punishment for yourself. Whenever you cannot do something because of your laziness punish yourself. Also, give yourself auto-suggestions that will help overcome idleness. Am I meditating in the right way?

I feel really sleepy during meditation. After I finish meditating I keep on yawning and feel like sleeping a little. Am I meditating in the right way?

There is a very interesting Sufi story about the consequence of sleeping too much. The story is about a very honest man who never harmed anyone in his life. His only problem was he liked to sleep. He slept during his prayer, he slept during his worship.

The real cause of lazyness is deep-rooted frustration and hopelessness. When we give up at the subconscious level, we don’t feel the urge to do any work. But if you can overcome this hopelessness and spread joy in your whole being, all your lethargy, idleness and procrastination will disappear.

Is taking part in music or sports idleness?

Is taking part in music or sports idleness? How do I draw the line between idleness and leisure?

No, participating in a sport is not idleness. There is no way you can be idle when you are playing football! All that running will drive the idleness away! And if you are playing or singing the music yourself then that also is a serious quest. Music, writing, recitation, these are all art forms. You can take up any of them.
